Misako Sassa

Meet Misako

Misako Sassa was born in Japan and has lived in Canada, England and the United States. She is now based in New York City.

A former high school teacher in both Japan and U.S., Misako has spent 20 years sharing Japanese culture as a Japanese cooking instructor and recipe creator. She teaches authentic home-style Japanese cooking to both children and adults, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and has developed recipes for a variety of publications. She also enjoys visiting schools to introduce children to Japanese culture and cuisine through educational presentations.

Outside of work, Misako is passionate about ballet and strength training, which complement her active lifestyle and appreciation for movement. She enjoys learning new things and connecting with people from different culture and backgrounds.
